Mesa Tesla Rear-End Death Reveals Autopilot Was On, Filing Shows
When a Ford F-350 pickup slammed into the rear of a stopped Tesla Model 3 on eastbound Loop 202 near Dobson Road in Mesa last Halloween, initial reports described a routine two-vehicle freeway crash. Nearly ten months later, a redacted federal filing has revealed a detail no one disclosed at the time: the Tesla's driver-assist system was engaged when the car came to a stop in a live traffic lane, and it stayed there until the pickup hit it at 3 a.m.

Highway route bisects land family has occupied since 1940s | Exclusive
(This article was revised to add a missing word.) The planned route of the Central Polk Parkway East confirmed Sharon Garrett’s worst fears. “It’s going to go up through the middle” of her family’s property east of Haines City, Garrett said. “It goes about 20 feet in front of my front door.” Since Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise revived long-dormant plans to build the toll road in 2024 , Garrett has been pleading with state officials to route the highway away from the property that her family has owned since the 1940s. She has written twice to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, she said. The agency revealed four potential corridors in 2025, eventually narrowing the choices to two. When the Turnpike Enterprise announced in December that it had selected Corridor F , Garrett realized with alarm that the route would cross through her family’s property along Carl Boozer Road. The agency released the first detailed maps of the road alignment in virtual and public meetings starting Aug. 24. The maps confirmed that the planned highway would bisect Garrett’s property. Garrett, 74, choked up several times as she discussed the state’s plans during a phone interview. She said she attended an open house in

North Thompson Road Shuts Down 30 Days as Apopka Sewer Push Hits Full Speed
Drivers near Apopka should brace for a full month of detours: North Thompson Road is closed around the clock, seven days a week, between Reagans Reserve Boulevard and Yvonne Street, including the Sandpiper Street intersection, for roughly 30 days starting in late August. The closure is the most visible sign yet of a sprawling, multiyear effort to rip septic tanks out of neighborhoods near the Wekiva River and replace them with central sewer lines.
