The bulk of Fayetteville-area Week 6 games were rescheduled to Thursday with a storm system off the coast expected to bring heavy rain and high wind gusts Friday.
The short week delivered several big matchups in the United 8 and All American conferences.
In the AAC, Terry Sanford (3-2, 2-0) trailed by two touchdowns before scoring against visiting Triton (3-2, 1-1), with the Hawks' second TD coming on an 80-yard run by Javon Cowan, but the Bulldogs rallied for a 38-20 win and a share of the conference lead.
Terry Sanford receiver Christian Carter had a highlight-reel performance. His first big play came on a 63-yard reception that was knocked away as he attempted to catch it about 5 yards from scrimmage, but the sophomore maintained enough focus to track the batted ball and corral it while he broke a tackle and turned downfield to score.
Later in the game, Carter got behind the defense to score on a 68-yard catch-and-run.
Terry Sanford got a boost late in the first half when it overcame a 17-14 deficit, scoring with just seconds remaining.
Rashid Jones added some razzle-dazzle with his footwork on a 10-yard reception and a couple of jukes to reach the end zone. And quarterback Jaylen Wright found Kamal Thames with a 28-yard pass through defenders for another score.
The Bulldogs face Pine Forest next week. The Trojans are scheduled to play at Western Harnett this week in a game that kept its original Friday kickoff.
