Woman's death under investigation after body found on Cumberland County roadside

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said it's investigating after a woman's body was found on the side of McArthur Road on Monday morning.

The body of Pamela Jean Hunt, 52, of Fayetteville, was found at 8:19 a.m. near Huckleberry Drive and McArthur Road, according to an incident report from the Sheriff's Office. The location is just south of Honeycutt Road and Peaden's Restaurant. Huckleberry Drive is the entrance to Bill's Mobile Home Park.

Cumberland Sheriff's Sgt. Mickey Locklear confirmed Tuesday that the death is under investigation. Locklear declined to provide further details.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, which also responded to the scene, said the incident was not a hit-and-run.

Attempts to contact Hunt's family were unsuccessful.
