FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A community is shaken after two people died and two other were injured in a shooting at a Fayetteville home.

Police said it happened early Wednesday morning in the area of Rembrandt Drive and Trotwood Drive.

Neighbors said they heard around 20 shots fired around 3:30 a.m.

The two men killed have been identified as Aljarez Elliott, 18, and Alzy Diamond, 24.

"Gun violence right now is matriculating everywhere in Fayetteville. So at this point, it's like, no area is the safe area," Demetria Murphy said. She's a community activist working to end gun violence.

Of the two men injured in the shooting one is in critical condition and the other has non-life threatening injuries.

Fayetteville Police Department said the two deaths mark the 21st and 22nd homicides of the year. There were only 22 homicides the entire year of 2018; last year, the city reported 44 homicides.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact Detective D. Arnett at (910) 929-2565.
