Twitter reacts to TCU's rout of Arkansas in Fayetteville Regional

Arkansas fans had really high hopes entering Sunday’s matchup with TCU. Those hopes quickly diminished in front a packed Baum-Walker Stadium after the first pitch.

Hagen Smith gave up six runs in the first inning as the top of TCU’s lineup was an absolute buzz saw. The Arkansas bullpen didn’t stand a chance as the Horned Frogs had compiled a 14-1 lead by the time action was stopped in the third inning for a lightning delay.

The 58-minute break in the action did nothing to slow down TCU, who was able to cruise to a 20-5 win over the Diamond Hogs. Despite Arkansas being able to bounce back and win over Santa Clara later in the evening, TCU is now in the driver’s seat of the regional.

Here’s what fans were saying on social media about Sunday’s rough performance.

TCU's Tre Richardson hit back-to-back grand slams to blow the game wide open

TCU jumping out to a 14-1 lead had Hog fans questioning things

When in doubt, blame Chad Morris

TCU's explosion reminded some of Arkansas' loss to UConn in basketball

Bring out the paper bags for sad depressed fans

This was a popular feeling among Arkansas fans

A pretty profound observation here

Arkansas fans were shocked (even before the lightning delay)

Lightning in the area delayed the game for 58 minutes

Some fans jokingly lobbied for the rest of the regional to be cancelled (meaning Arkansas would advance)

The delay ended and Arkansas showed some life

But it quickly diminished and TCU put a stop to any potential run

Tre Richardson had quite the game for TCU today

With the game well in hand in the bottom 8th, why keep playing?

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some supernatural intervention involved today

It was so bad, the official team account didn't make a score graphic

But they bounced back Sunday night, score graphic and all!
