Boys and girls both 3rd at Faribault track & field home meet

Faribault track and field posted solid scores in both the boys and girls competitions, with both teams finishing in third on Thursday afternoon behind Lakeville South and Mankato West on the boys side and trailing Mankato West and Byron on the girls side.

Lakeville South finished with 181.5 points, 30 points ahead of Faribault boys while Mankato West finished first on the girls side with a final score of 224.5. The Falcons finished with a third-place score of 134.5 points, while Byron finished second with 197 points.

The overall event featured seven teams, including Apple Valley, Burnsville, Kasson-Mantorville and Byron on the boys side, while the girls competition also included Apple Valley, Kasson-Mantorville, Burnsville and the Minnesota State Academy for Deaf.

For the boys Cristian Escobar battled a heavy wind in the 100 meter event to finish fourth in the event, while Tyler Clark was the next closest finisher in 23rd. Escobar continued his strong running with a third place finish in the 200 meters while JJ Schrot finished ninth. Schrot continued his own solid afternoon with a fifth place finish in the 400 meters while Cullen Cox finished in ninth.

James Hoisington finished 12th in the 800 meter going 2:17.53 against the wind before finishing in sixth as part of the 1600 meter event with a 5:02.53.

Owen Dotterweich was the high finisher for Faribautl in the 3200 meter with a 15th place finish just one place ahead of teammate Matthew Volkmuth.

Barak Barner, Carter Johnson and Aaron Plunket posted a first, second and third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles, all posting sub 16-second times. Plunkett and Johnson went on to finish second and third in the 300 meter hurdles.

The 4x100 relay team of Preston Berger, Barak Barner, JJ Schrot and Derrick Sando finished fourth while the team of Cullen Cox Barner, D’Shaun Davis and Berger would go on to post a third place finish in the 4x200. Faribault took home a fourth place finish in the 4x400 and an eighth place finish in the 4x800 to round out events on the track.

Out in the field Joseph Ruisi took home third in the discus with a 132-04 toss to finish two places ahead of teammate Joseph Steinberg. Cullen Cox finished fourth in the high jump while Cooper Leichtnam, Madden Paul and Nolan Vogelsberg finished first, second and third in the pole vault. Carter Johnson’s third place finish in the triple jump marked the final noteworthy result in the field for the boys.

On the girls side Grace Porter managed an eighth place finish in the 100 meter while Hannah Petersen’s eight place in the 400 marked another noteworthy result in the shorter distance running events.

Brooklyn Becker and Brynn Beardsley finished second and first respectively in the 800 and 1600 meter events as Beardsley took home first place finish in the 3200 meter only just ahead of Becker as the two runners managed a 12:12.83 and 12:12.85 photo finish. Teammate Claire Linnemann finished fourth in the run while Lauren Bitenbender and Claire Ray took home sixth and 10th.

In the 100 meter hurdles Miller Munoz and Nell Gibbs placed third and fourth while Gibbs went on to take second in the 300 meter hurdles.

The 4x100 relay saw Faribault finish ninth and 10th while the team of Sivana Schwartz, Annika Voit, AubreyPaul and Anna DeMars finished fifth in the 4x200 relay. The team of Voit, DeMars, Hannah Petersen and Brooklyn Becker finished second in the 4x400 relay as the quartet of Claire Wisdo, Aubrie Newport, Lorelei Weston and Laurent Bittenbender also finished second in the 4x800 relay.

In the field Fiona Voit managed a seventh place finish in discus while Krya Nelson placed fifth in the high jump. Sivana Schwartz and Jazmin Ramirez would go fourth and fifth in the long jump while Nell Gibbs’ fourth place finish in the triple jumped closed out the noteworthy finishes for the Falcons in the field.
