As we kick off a new week, let's take a look back at the week that was.

Top stories this past week included:

An hourlong rally was held at Kennedy Park across from Saint Anne’s on Thursday afternoon, where workers and their supporters held signs and spoke out strongly, urging new ownership of Steward Health Care facilities in the face of a financial crisis that could close hospitals like Saint Anne's. More than one speaker on Thursday noted that Steward is a for-profit healthcare company, and pushed for a nonprofit solution to the crisis.

Former Fall River police officer Nicholas Hoar was sentenced in a Boston federal court to serve 33 months in prison for striking a man in custody in the head with a metal baton then lying about it in police reports.

Adam Gauthier, formerly of Somerset, accused of killing three family members on Christmas night on the Veterans’ Memorial Bridge in an alleged drunk driving accident, pleaded not guilty to related charges on Wednesday in Bristol County Superior Court.

Retiring O Gil's owners can convert Portuguese restaurant into apartments; no buyers step up

After not finding a buyer, O Gil's, a fixture on the local Portuguese restaurant scene for more than 30 years, is looking to transform.

In December, owners and brothers-in-law Victor Fagundo and Felisberto Souza announced that they were retiring and putting the restaurant and the property up for sale.

With no takers, they've now obtained a special permit and a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals to convert the restaurant into apartments and divide the restaurant’s nearby parking lot into two house lots.

This past week, Diman baseball junior captain Sam Perry tossed his first high school no-hitter for the undefeated Bengals, blanking Southeastern in a brilliant, complete-game effort.

It was the Bengals' fifth consecutive win to start the season, thanks in large part to the right arm of Perry.
