50 homes, 3 commercial buildings proposed for Cherokee Street in Kennesaw
The Kennesaw Planning Commission recommended approval for a 50-unit townhome and condominium development during Wednesday’s meeting. The development would sit on 3.86 acres at 3059, 3045 and 3033 Cherokee Street in Kennesaw, to be developed as one parcel, across from Daybreak Village Assisted Living and next to the Galt Commons development on Cherokee Street. The commission approved the preliminary site design 4-0 with Commissioner Robert Trim absent. City staff also recommended the plan’s approval. Plans for the development, named Uptown Village, were submitted by Jason Kisz of Kisz Construction. All three properties were acquired by French 3 Investments LLC between December 2023 and October 2025 for a total of $1.57 million. The land is already zoned to allow for the mixed-use development. A rezoning for the project is not required. The preliminary design shows a mix of 28 condos and 22 townhomes, three commercial buildings, common areas with greenspace, a park, courtyards, a dog park and an entrance and exit onto Cherokee Street. According to minutes from the February Historic Preservation Commission meeting, the development will continue sidewalks along Cherokee Street, but will be unable to connect sidewalks to the adjacent Galt Commons community due to a large elevation change

The development falls in the Kennesaw Elementary, Awtrey Middle and North Cobb High school zones. Councilwoman Madelyn Orochena said she took into consideration comments made during the Planning Commission meeting which raised concerns about overcrowding in schools, however, she said overcrowding would not be an issue after looking at the enrollment numbers.
