Have registered voters increased in Missouri for the 2026 election? See the numbers

There are more voters registered in Missouri for the 2026 midterm election compared to 2022’s midterms, and some county election boards are expecting high turnouts. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Missouri voters can already cast their ballots early with no-excuse absentee voting at election boards and other approved voting locations. There’s a lot to vote for in Kansas City and statewide, from electing a U.S. Representative, voting on abortion again, and direct democracy, following the U.S. Supreme Court blocking Missouri’s gerrymandered map . Voting to decide which map to use in future elections is also on the ballot in November . The Missouri Secretary of State says that as of Oct. 1, the state has 4,389,263 registered voters; 3,965,828 are active, while 423,435 are inactive. The Missouri Secretary of State couldn’t share how many voters requested Democrat, Republican or Independent ballots, However, nonprofit organization Independent Voter Project reports that of these over 4 million voters, 49.3% request Republican ballots and 33.4% request Democrat ballots. The data collected from Independent Voter Project says that 17.2% are Independent voters. The 2022 midterm election had 4,286,342 registered voters in Missouri, more than 100,000 fewer than in 2026. U.S. Route 71 J-turn now open in Nodaway County

NODAWAY COUNTY, MO — The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Friday afternoon that the U.S. Route 71 J-turn near 340th Street in Nodaway County is open. Crews have been working with Leavenworth Excavating & Equipment Company, Inc. since Aug. 10 to complete the project. Now that the J-turn is finished, motorists will no longer cross multiple lanes of traffic. Instead, those traveling on 340th Street will merge into the passing lane on US-71 and then make a U-turn in the direction they want to travel.
