Opinion: Denver can't plan for cold weather sheltering let alone solve homelessness
No doubt you have seen in your social media news feed articles by the New York Times and others saying Denver has solved homelessness. Not quite. In fact, as of Sunday the mayor’s administration had not even announced a cold weather sheltering plan. As early as October, a Denver winter can come in with fury and dump mounds of snow. That hasn’t happened yet, but winter comes on its own time, often with only a day or two of warning. And Denver has not announced a plan for it.

Denver and Boulder could see their first snow chances around November 3 to 7, though that part of the forecast is very uncertain.

October 25 to October 31: This week in Denver weather history
Halloween week is historically pretty eventful when it comes to weather. Wind is always a factor this time of year as gusty Chinook winds can come flying down the mountains and foothills and cause a great deal of damage. Snow of course also becomes more frequent as we get closer to our second snowiest month (November).

The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a high near 78, with southwesterly winds making the afternoon feel more like a breezy shoulder-season bonus than late October. By Saturday, temperatures plunge into the 50s and rain chances return.
