CoreSite vows "responsible" building amid backlash
For years, Denver-based CoreSite operated largely under the radar, running two data centers — including one inside a historic downtown building — with little public scrutiny. Not anymore. Why it matters: Fierce opposition to CoreSite's newest project in Elyria-Swansea has thrust the company into a broader fight over the future of data centers in Denver. State of play: Denver imposed in May a one-year moratorium on new data center applications, sparing CoreSite's newest facility. Mayor Mike Johnston has since floated an outright ban as the city explores new regulations . What they're saying: " I just think it's a lack of education, a lack of understanding of the different types of data centers that exist," CoreSite spokesperson Megan Ruszkowski tells us. The company's working to be a more transparent "responsible builder" in the current climate, Ruszkowski adds. It's also participating in mediation with the GES Coalition, a local advocacy group, on a good neighbor agreement aimed at limiting environmental and neighborhood impact. Zoom in: CoreSite's newest facility, known as DE3, opened this month and powers everything from video chat to AI applications, CoreSite central region general manager Yvonne Ng tells us. The company insists DE3 isn't an AI data center,

Skip The Big-Box Store Because Denver’s Restaurant Supply Warehouse Sells Kitchen Gear For Less
Most Denver home cooks buy their sheet pans and spatulas from the same giant chain stores, and they pay chain store prices for the privilege. There is another way, and it sits on a busy west Denver street where plenty of drivers pass without a second glance. Behind a modest storefront waits a family-run shop packed with the same tools restaurant kitchens rely on, often for a lot less than you planned to spend.

In 5 numbers: How bad was the historically awful 2026 ‘water year’
Water Year 2026 is in the books and — as most water watchers know — it was historically bad. The water year is the 12-month span that runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. It’s the stretch hydrologists use to track water trends, and, well, the 2026 water year broke so many records that the aftermath resembles what you’d see after a giant gorilla on a banger rampaged through Wax Trax, Colorado's iconic music store.

Proposal to replace lowest-bid construction policy with ‘best value’ moves forward in Aurora
AURORA | City officials are considering moving away from a lowest-bid policy for construction projects over $500,000 to allow for a broader range of considerations.
