Pets perish in Fairmont fire

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Officials in Fairmont report two pets perished in a house fire on Tuesday on the east side of the city.

Fairmont Firefighters responded at 8:35 a.m., found the fire in one room of the home, and quickly extinguished it.

The resident was not at home when the fire broke out.

Officials believe the two dogs died of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
