Using a drone and a K-9 unit, Fairfield police arrested a man after a chase last weekend and found a gun in the vehicle he allegedly stole.

At 11:44 p.m. Friday, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates at Air Base Parkway and Dover Avenue.

The driver didn't yield and a pursuit ensued until the vehicle crashed in the area of Cement Hill Road and Gulf Drive. The driver and front passenger fled into a nearby field, while two rear passengers exited the vehicle and cooperated with police.

Solano County sheriff's deputies set a perimeter while a Fairfield officer allegedly found a loaded firearm on the vehicle's rear floorboard along with a large bag of marijuana. The vehicle was reported stolen in Oakland.

Using a drone and a K-9, police located a "hotspot" beneath a large tree and directed the search team to that location.

As the K-9 approached, Cameron Robertson of Oakland, walked out with his hands up.

Police arrested Robertson and booked him into Solano County Jail on suspicion of an assortment of offenses.
