The incident was reported just before 1:10 p.m. The school was reportedly placed on lockdown, but lifted around 2 p.m. when no active threat was found, police said.
Students were commenting photos of themselves during the lockdown on the Fairfax County PD's tweet announcing the incident.
Lion Run and Blenheim Boulevard in front of the high school were closed.
