A man is in custody after a shooting Saturday morning in Fairfax where one person died, according to police.
Fairfax County Police said the shooting happened near the 10400 block of Viera Lane. The shooting occurred just before 8 a.m.
Police located a man inside a second-level apartment with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said another family was inside the apartment, but was not harmed.
Lieutenant James Curry had the following message for the suspect, "You know you're responsible. Turn yourself in, and tell us your side of the story. End this peacefully."
According to police, the shooting is not random and the suspect is known to the victim.
Police arrested the suspect hours after the shooting.
