GROVETON, Va. (WJLA) —
Eight people were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in Virginia that involved a fire engine, Fairfax County police said.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The crash took place Thursday in Groveton.
Fairfax County Fire & Rescue units were responding to a CPR call when they were involved with a crash with two other vehicles," Ashley Hildebrandt with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said.
Authorities said the fire engine left the road and ended up just a few feet away from hitting the Beacon of Groveton apartment building.

I just pray that no one has lost their life," said Lisa Williams, who lives nearby. "This is not the first incident I've seen. On any given day you can expect it to happen because of the flow of the traffic, the speed of the traffic."
