A Fairfax County fire engine and three other vehicles were involved in a crash Thursday resulting in several people being taken to the hospital, including one with life-threatening injuries, Fairfax County police said.
The crash took place at Richmond Highway & Memorial Street in Groveton.
"Fairfax County Fire & Rescue units were responding to a CPR call when they were involved with a crash with two other vehicles," Ashley Hildebrandt with Fairfax County Fire & Rescue said.
The fire engine left the roadway and ended up just a few feet away from hitting the Beacon of Groveton apartment building.
"I just pray that no one has lost their life," said Lisa Williams who lives nearby. "This is not the first incident I've seen. On any given day you can expect it to happen because of the flow of the traffic, the speed of the traffic."
