Crews put out two-story duplex fire in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — Firefighter crews put out a two-story duplex fire in Everett on Sunday around 1:00 a.m., according to Everett Fire.

The fire happened in the 11500 block of Meridian Avenue South. Crews arrived and said they saw a heavy fire coming from the duplex.

Crews said the fire might have started on the outside but extended up to the second story and the entire attic.

All residents were able to evacuate safely, but unfortunately, one cat died. Nine residents were forced out of their homes.

Crews said both residents had working smoke alarms and remind people to double-check that their smoke alarms are functioning properly.

The fire is currently under investigation. Everett Fire was helped by South County Fire and Mukilteo firefighters.
