Man strikes Police Officer during arrest

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- An Evansville Police Officer was hit in the face while arresting a man.

Police say that the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 2200 block of Old Business 41. Officers were responding to a trespassing call at a gas station in the area and say that Travis Travelstead had been previously barred from the location.

Officers say that they located Travelstead across the street from the gas station, when he ran from them through oncoming traffic. EPD says that during the incident, Travelstead struck an officer in the face.

Travelstead was arrested and charged with battery against a public safety official, resisting law enforcement and obstruction of traffic. He was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
