MILLION BOND. THE REMAINS OF NEARLY 70 PEOPLE WERE FOUND DURING A MASSIVE SEWER PROJECT IN EVANSVILLE. THE NEWS STORAGE SYSTEM IS GOING IN WHERE AN OLD CHURCH USED TO STAND. AND IT TURNS OUT THAT’S THE SITE OF A CEMETERY. THAT’S MORE THAN A CENTURY OLD. 63 OF THE REMAINS HAVE BEEN REMOVED SO FAR, BUT THERE ARE STILL FIVE IN THE GROUND. SO IT’S NOT SURPRISING THAT THAT THERE’S THAT MANY GRAVES. IT’S WHAT IS KIND OF SURPRISING IS THAT THEY HAVEN’T BEEN MOVED SINCE THEN OR DISTURBED BY OTHER ACTIVITY, CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IN THOSE 150, ALMOST 200 YEARS.
