(WFIE) - Evansville Police say one person is in custody after a report of shots fired at Dress Plaza off Riverside Drive.

According to a report, the call came in just before 11:30 Tuesday night.

Witnesses told police that a man with a pistol had fired the shots, causing those in the area to evacuate.

When arriving, officers say they saw someone matching the description and started a traffic stop.

According to a release, officers commanded three occupants to come out of the car. The driver and one of the passengers cooperated, however, a back passenger did not.

That person was identified as 24-year-old Khalil Titington.

EPD says Titington was uncooperative and matched the description they were given of the shooting suspect. Eventually officers were able to take him into custody.

Once in custody, officers say they found a handgun in the car where Titington was sitting.

Officers say it was determined that Titington and another passenger were in a verbal argument, and Titington was the one who fired the gun. Police also discovered Titington had been drinking and was drunk.

EPD says no injuries were reported.

Police say they found that Titington had active felony warrants out of Tennessee for assault.

He is now in the Vanderburgh County Jail where he is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon
  • Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Public intoxication
  • Disorderly conduct
