Editor’s note: The following is a list of the board, commission and council meetings that are scheduled in the coming week around Humboldt County.  

Arcata City Council

When: First and third Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m.; special meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Where: City Hall Council Chamber: 736 F St, Arcata

• During the special meeting, the council will meet in closed session to discuss the employment of a city attorney.

• During the regular meeting, the council will consider approving a lease agreement between the city and the county for the Arcata branch of the library.

• The council will review the 2023-24 annual budget for the city.

College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees

When: First Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m.

Where: 7351 Tompkins Hill Road, Eureka

• The board will consider student trustee travel to a conference in August.

• The board will consider donating or disposing of surplus items.

• The board will consider approving the 2023-24 budget.

• The board will receive an update on the Del Norte campus.

• The board will receive an annual report on student suspensions.

Eureka City Council

When: First and third Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m.

Where: Eureka City Council chambers, 531 K Street, Eureka

• The council will meet in closed session at 5 p.m. to discuss anticipated litigation.

• The council will receive a presentation on the summer mural projects.

• The council will consider approving up to $675,000 for fiber optic installation.

• The council will consider a letter of support for AB 812 that allocates a portion of affordable housing for artists.

Fortuna City Council

When: First and third Monday of every month at 6 p.m.

Where: City Hall council chambers 621 11th Street, Fortuna

• The council will consider the approval of fees and services for the city.

• The council will consider adopting the 2023-24 fiscal year budget,

• The council will consider a revision of the organic waste disposal ordinance.

Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District

When: The second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.

Where: Woodley Island Marina meeting room, Eureka

• The board will meet in closed session at 5 p.m. to discuss real property negotiations.

• The board will review an early budget for conservation programs, recreation
programs and tidelands.

Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District

When: Second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m.

Where: 828 Seventh St., Eureka

• The board will continue discussions of water planning for the Trinidad Rancheria and Nordic Aquafarms.

• The board will consider restoring power to the Old Ruth Project.

• The board will consider pay for the assistant secretary-treasurer.

• The board will meet in closed session at 1:30 p.m. to discuss litigation related to the Van Duzen.

Humboldt County Board of Supervisors

When: Every Tuesday except for the fifth Tuesday of a month at 9 a.m.

Where: Supervisors chambers, 825 Fifth St., Eureka

• The board will consider declaring July 8 as Bigfoot Daze, formerly called Bigfoot Days, in Willow Creek.

• The board will consider approving a list of projects to be funded by SB 1 for fiscal year 2023-24.

• The board will meet in closed session at 1 p.m. to discuss two cases of litigation.

• The board will receive a report on the 2023-24 fiscal budget.

• The board will hold a public hearing on placing a moratorium on off-premise billboards and illuminated signs.

McKinleyville Community Services District

When: First Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Where: Azalea Hall, 1620 Pickett Road, McKinleyville

• The board will consider approving a use agreement for the Hiller Sports Complex.

• The board will receive a presentation on the Humboldt County Civil Grand Jury report on incorporation.

Rio Dell City Council

When: First and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Rio Dell City Hall council chambers, 675 Wildwood Ave., Rio Dell

• The council will consider approving a list of projects to be funded by SB 1.

• The council will receive a presentation on the 2023-24 fiscal budget.

• The council will consider an ordinance on the prohibition of city streets for vehicle storage.
