Inside Mississippi State's surprising recruiting success at this Tennessee high school
Since his mom is a Mississippi State graduate, it only came natural for Gavin Hampton to grow up a massive fan of the Bulldogs. Riverdale's (Murfreesboro, TN) senior quarterback grew up making frequent trips to Starkville and became a die-hard fan at a young age. He loved the school so much that he reclassified from the 2028 class up to the 2027 cycle on June 15, took an official visit to Mississippi State on June 19 and announced his commitment to the Bulldogs that day. One Mississippi State pledge at a Tennessee high school isn't uncommon. However, Hampton isn't the only future Bulldog at Riverdale. Not one, not two, but three Riverdale seniors are currently part of the Bulldogs' 2027 recruiting class. Hampton was actually the last of those three commits, joining three-star safety Hudson Fuqua and his lifelong friend, three-star athlete Sutton Gutting. "It's great because I'll have two built-in friends when I get there," Hampton said. "I'm really excited to continue this bond and continue our journey as teammates. Sutton has been my best friend since first grade so it's great to have him particular along with me on this journey. "We're going to do great things down

SULLIGENT — Tied 14-14 with South Lamar at halftime, the Sulligent High School football team trudged into the locker room. Players' heads were down, and BT Bennett noticed. "I think God made him sense that this is probably his last time he was ever gonna play," quarterback and friend JohnWil Spruiel said.
