Regenerate Cascadia, a non-profit focused on sustainable practice education, is hosting informational workshops Thursday and Friday In Lane County.
The group is gathering at places around the county that serve as examples of how you can turn your space, whether it’s a farm, yard or smaller space, into a productive and sustainable agricultural environment.
For the group and its members, the work they do to teach people how to use the land around them is an important opportunity to explore the potential of the bioregion we live in.
They say the lessons they teach will help reverse some of the human impacts of climate change by limiting overconsumption. Also, they say the bar for entry is quite low.
“Where I live now is a small garden, there is a lot of food growing there," says Mike Brunt, founder of Incredible Edible Eugene. "But I’m growing food in, I think, 245 pots. It’s very easy to start growing. If you’ve got light and water, you can grow in pots, I’ve got lots of stuff growing like that. So, let’s just start growing.”
Regenerate Cascadia will be hosting educational events Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Lost Valley in Dexter and Friday in Eugene from 5:30-6:30 p.m. For more information visit their website.
