More than 60 employees at Valley River Inn are being let go following a fire in February that damaged part of the hotel's building. According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice provided to Oregon HECC's Dislocated Worker Unit by the hotel's parent company, Aimbridge Hospitality, the layoffs are permanent.
In the WARN notice, Aimbridge Vice President of Human Resources Dave Williams said, "We were unable to provide more notice of this action because these circumstances were not reasonably foreseeable until mid-May following a fire at the Inn’s primary building and a determination that the secondary building could not operate without the guest functions of the operations being closed down in the main building due to the fire and required re-construction."
The majority of the affected positions are in the food service department. Valley River Inn employees are not represented by a union.
