Days after winning the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament, Oregon opened the Nashville regional with a 5-4 win over Xavier. The Ducks took the lead in the bottom of the 7th with two runs to secure the victory.
"Just really happy with the way our team came together despite not probably playing their best game for sure," said Ducks Head Coach Mark Wasikowski. "There were some mistakes, there were some, looked like rust. It might have been nerves with just the beginning of the regional but just very excited about the way they came together and found a way to win."
The Ducks used six different pitchers Friday against the Musketeers. Roseburg native and Oregon’s main Friday starter Jace Stoffal has yet to return from injury.
Oregon will face the winner of Eastern Illinois/Vanderbilt on Saturday at 6 p.m., TV network still to be decided.
