As great as the feeling that was winning the Pac-12 tournament for the Oregon Baseball team, what had to be even better for the Ducks was not having to worry if they would hear their name selected for Monday’s NCAA Tournament Selection show.
Earning the automatic berth by winning the conference tourney, it was a matter of not if, but where for the Ducks.
They're headed to the Music City!
Oregon is the 2nd seed in the Nashville Regional. The same Regional the Ducks found themselves in back in 2014.
'It doesn't matter where you go, every team that gets in is good,' says Duck's head coach Mark Wasikowski. 'And so you know the team that plays the best is going to win it, so yeah we've got some familiarity, and we also peel as though the people that have been here before, we have something in terms of an opportunity to go back to Vanderbilt potentially, you never know, but potentially play against Vanderbilt.'
So, a familiar venue for Mark Wasikowski and the Ducks this weekend, and a familiar first opponent in the Nashville Regional.
Oregon opens against the 3-seed Xavier on Friday at 10 a.m. on ESPN Plus.
The Ducks swept the Musketeers at home back in February, the winner of that game will face the winner of the 1-seed Vanderbilt against the 4-seed Eastern Illinois.
