Anytime Oregon softball hosts UCLA it's a series that is going to attract eyeballs.
But this weekend the stakes are a little more personal.
That's because two former Ducks - pitcher Brooke Yanez and infielder Rachel Cid - transferred to the Bruins after last season.
Yanez told Softball America in July that she transferred because she wanted to reach the Women's College World Series, a statement that several Ducks took personally - even going as far as to unfollow Yanez on Instagram.
When asked about the former Oregon All-American, UO head coach Missy Lombardi took a diplomatic approach to the question.
"Right now, you have the transfer portal; people have the opportunity to do what they want with it. That was something where, she graduated here, I’m thankful for her and getting her diploma here. I'm thankful for what she's done here and I wish her all the best."
"I think every time we've gone out and played, either someone we know or someone thata player has had a former team that we play,” said Ducks senior infielder Allee Bunker. “I think it's just the same as any other team, you just go out and play your hardest. There’s not really a story to it."
Friday's game starts at 6 p.m. on Pac-12 Network.
