The Oregon baseball team is getting set to host Northwestern State in a four-game non-conference series starting Friday.

Speaking of baseball, Tuesday night saw the sport take another step towards finding a bigger audience.

The final of the World Baseball Classic between the U.S. and Japan capped off an exciting tournament.

Ducks head coach Mark Wasikowski loved seeing the passion on a global level.

"To see all the people in the world come together and celebrate a great game and their excitement, I think is a story that has been way underdone in the United States. Even though it's at what some gurus say is the wrong time and the wrong time of year and all that stuff, the hell with that. I thought it was awesome; I want more of it."

Japan defeated the United States 3-2 in Tuesday night's championship.

The WBC is set to return in 2026.
