A combination of fewer donors and increased blood transfusions for cancer treatments, surgeries, and traumas at local hospitals reduced their Type O+ levels to critical and Type O- levels to an emergency one-day supply.
Bloodworks Northwest has provided 300+ more units of blood to Pacific Northwest hospitals than were donated over the last seven days, the organization says.
Same-day appointments are available at most locations.
