March Madness is underway, and although the Oregon Men's Basketball Team is not where they envisioned themselves being in the NIT the Ducks are making the most of their post-season.
The Ducks had a chance at revenge in the first round against UC Irvine, a team that had beaten Oregon at home early in the season when the team was dealing with multiple injuries.
And even though the team is still fighting injuries, now with three starters out, the Ducks still showed no mercy for the Anteaters on Wednesday, holding UC Irvine to just 30% shooting.
The team is very motivated to finish the season strong, proving they still have something to play for, and want to carry that momentum into next season.
Nate Bittle, Ducks Sophomore Center says, "We're late in the season now. Our team's got chemistry and I just think we came out this time really locked in on our scouting report and we did a good job there and we just shut them down."
"And nobody on our team is really giving up you know. We still have something to play for. There's a lot of teams that aren't playing," said Ducks Senior Guard Rivaldo Soares.
"I think everybody on our team still wants to play. You can see it in everybody's eyes, everybody's emotion. People want to be there," says Bittle.
Oregon will take on UCF in the second round of the NIT at Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday at 4:30.
