"To get better at football you have to play football, so having guys out there that can rotate where it's not just about conditioning, but it's about technique; that's starting to show up," said Ducks Head Coach Dan Lanning.
The Ducks have only had two practices so far this spring before getting some time off for winter term finals and spring break.
A well-deserved break for the players after some tough off-season workouts.
Even though the Ducks are only two practices in, Head Coach Dan Lanning wanted to lay down the foundation and what the expectations would be for spring practices and give the players some time to reflect these next two weeks heading into April.
That good foundation starts with the programs traits, which are connection, toughness, growth and sacrifice.
Coach Lanning said in these early spring practices he's looking at which players can simply play football.
Specifically, which players are willing to give their maximum amount of effort and have the speed to help the Ducks build ACFP program.
"It's different by each position, right? Obviously if you're a defensive guy, you've got to be able to get guys on the ground, which means you have to put your body in position to get guys on the ground,” says Lanning. “If you're an offensive guy, you've got to be able to catch the ball, right? You've got to be able to control the ball, cover up guys as a blocker, hand placement, footwork, but more than anything, across the board, it's how you play with relentless effort. If you can't play fast, you can't play football."
The Ducks will return to the practice field April 3rd.
