Charges are pending after an Etowah woman stabbed her boyfriend during a fight, one in which she was also injured, according to McMinn County's sheriff.
Sheriff Joe Guy tells us the incident happened last Saturday afternoon near a residence on East Cemetery Road, southeast of Etowah.
Sheriff Guy says arriving deputies found a 55-year-old man lying on a porch with stab wounds. An ambulance rushed him to a regional trauma facility.
Investigators later learned the man had been fighting with his 35-year-old girlfriend at his home.
Sheriff Guy says the couple then took a walk, where the argument got physical.
It was at that point that the woman stabbed the man, the sheriff says.
The woman then ran away, and the man went to a residence on East Cemetery Road to get help.
Deputies later located the woman at a home on nearby Knox Road.
Sheriff Guy says she told officers where she put the knife she used. Deputies recovered the knife and more evidence.
An ambulance took the woman to the hospital for treatment of her own injuries she got in the fight.
As of Friday, Sheriff Guy says the man remains in serious condition.
Sheriff Guy's release says charges are pending, but he was not more specific.
