Two juveniles were taken to the hospital after being shot near an elementary school in Essex, according to Baltimore County Police Department.

Public information officer Sergeant Gladys L. Brown says officers were sent to the scene of a reported shooting on the 900 block of South Marlyn Ave at around 8:10 on Friday evening.

Authorities say medics took two juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds to a local hospital.

Brown says the department believes there is no threat to the public but that citizens in the area should remain vigilant.

Sandalwood Elementary School is located at the same address as the incident.

Police have not given a report of the ages or the conditions of the two juveniles shot in this incident.
