Penn State Behrend hosted a Career Fair on Wednesday for college students at any Erie County college or university as well as Penn State alum.

Students could meet with up to 165 different companies to learn about open internships or positions. There were representatives from various fields including engineering, health care, accounting, communication, marketing, and sales.

Students attending the job fair said they were appreciative for the opportunity to network and see what open roles were out there. David Witt, a Junior at Penn State Behrend  said, "I already have an internship for the summer kind of lined up right now, but I figured I'd test the waters, meet some people here, network, get some business cards, get my resume out there."

Employers looking to fill roles in the health care field talked about some of the challenges they've found when it comes to bringing people on.

Rachel Wilkinson, a Region Recruiter Interim Health Care  explained, "Ever since the pandemic. It's also been a challenge, but also health care just ever growing. So there's always needs. Even if you fill all your needs, there's going to be new ones that come. So it's always a challenge, but we definitely have the opportunities.

Officials at Penn State Behrend said they had all their tables filled with companies for the fair. They also said they are seeing employers looking for interns after their first year of college and not waiting until their junior or senior year.
