Former Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott will once again work in local government, taking over Erie County's Economic Development Bureau.

County Executive Brenton Davis created the bureau during his first year in office, calling it an economic fusion cell meant to target and acquire additional state and federal funding for economic development projects around the region.

The county allocated more than $250,000 in American Rescue Plan Act money for the bureau.

Initially, Wayne Awald was tapped to lead to bureau, but he was let go after less than half a year on the job.

Sinnott returns to Erie after spending the last year as city administrator of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

He spent three terms as City of Erie mayor and also previously served on Erie City Council.

Sinnott will start his new role April 10.
