Can't Miss: Bowl of ’Zole Returning to Boston on Wednesday, April 12th
2023-04-06
After a successful run last year in Brooklyn and recently in Denver, Bowl of ‘Zole is returning to Boston on the evening of Wednesday April 12th. Founded in 2020 by spirits expert Arik Torren, Chef Danny Mena, author of Made in Mexico, and Food Karma’s Jimmy Carbone, this celebrated tasting event aims to spotlight heritage Pozole and to celebrate the vibrant culture of agave spirits like mezcal, tequila, raicilla, bacanora, and sotol.
Now in its second year in Boston, Bowl of ‘Zole brings together local chefs, international mezcal producers, and food lovers at the South Boston Lithuanian Club. For this year’s Bowl of ‘Zole, the trio have united an amazing community of mezcal aficionados and 10 of the city’s most celebrated chefs including Max Toste of Lone Star Taco Bar in Allston and Cambridge; Paula Ibarra of Barra in Somerville’s Union Square; and Jake Rojas of Tallulah Taqueria in Providence, R.I. To make sure everyone can enjoy the evening, the Boston fest will also offer vegetarian, seafood, and meat versions of this delicious dish.
Boston’s Social Wines is the festival’s retail partner, and will be on-site. Producers sampling their products will include Del Maguey, Siete Misterios Mezcal, Erstwhile Mezcal, Don Fulano Tequila, Astral Tequila, and many more. There will also be beer, wine, and hard seltzers.
Boston-based charity-driven streetwear brand Project Paulie is this year’s community partner. A portion of net proceeds will be donated to Not Us Without You LA, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food security for the undocumented immigrants who are the backbone of the hospitality industry in the greater Los Angeles area.
The all-inclusive, 21+ tasting event will be held indoors. All attendees will receive a complimentary veladora tasting glass. Tickets are on sale now for general admission and VIP access, with perks like early festival entry at 5 p.m. and preferred access to guided tastings.
General Admission ($65 + fee) includes 6:00 PM admission to the all-inclusive event, all-inclusive food and drink tastings.
