GAINESVILLE, Texas — Traffic is moving through Cooke County again but only after the North Texas skies stopped dumping several inches of Thursday night rain and after road construction crews moved a few concrete barriers that were acting as unwelcome I-35 levies and trapping drivers on the highway for more than six hours.

Gainesville firefighters help people dealing with flooding in south Texas
GAINESVILLE, Texas (KXII) - Six firefighters from Gainesville have been deployed to southeastern Texas since the beginning of May to help people impacted by flooding. Gainesville Fire-Rescue shared that members of the department are working with Texas A&M Task Force 1, along with task forces from Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee to help with searches, damage assessments and welfare checks in the area.

Krum ISD officials placed a band teacher accused of indecency with a child on leave last July. Carol Turner, 60, has been indicted on nine counts of indecency with a child by contact for alleged offenses from 1996 to 1998. She is accused of multiple incidents of inappropriate sexual contact and two counts of sexual assault of a male student who was under the age of 17 throughout the three-year period.
