Dry, breezy and fire-prone through Thursday, then rain arrives for Halloween weekend

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - This afternoon looks dry across southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi, with highs climbing into the lower to mid 80s. That steady warmth is locked in for the rest of the week. The dry air comes with a catch, though. Drought conditions, dry fuels and low humidity will keep the fire danger elevated through at least Thursday. Winds ease today into early Wednesday, which helps a little, but a spark can still spread quickly. Please obey any burn bans in place and use extreme caution with open flames outdoors, even if your parish or county doesn’t have a ban.

Wet Halloween Possible in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas as Heavy Rain Threatens Trick or Treating While Georgia Stays Dry and Calm

BATON ROUGE, LA — Halloween could come with a soggy surprise for parts of the South Central United States this year. The latest forecast guidance shows a broad area of rain and embedded heavier downpours spreading across Louisiana, Mississippi, East Texas, and Arkansas around Saturday, October 31, raising the chance that trick-or-treating plans could be disrupted. While there is still time for the timing and placement of the rain to shift, families across the region are encouraged to keep an umbrella handy.
