A missing Bloomfield man was found dead at the base of Rockefeller Lookout in Englewood Cliffs on Sunday, police said.
Palisades Interstate Parkway Police officers found an abandoned vehicle at about 5 p.m. at the Bergen County lookout, which located along Palisades Interstate Parkway just north of Exit 1, according to a police spokesman.
The vehicle was registered to a 54-year-old man reported missing and endangered on Friday by Clifton Police Department after officers were contacted by the man’s brother, authorities said. Police did not release the man’s name.
Members of the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Detective Bureau, Bergen County Sheriff K-9 Unit and the New York Police Department Aviation unit canvassed the area, but didn’t find anything, police said.
The East Bergen Rappel Team and members of New Jersey Search and Rescue also searched the area. After an extensive search, rescuers found the man dead, authorities said.
The man’s death does not appear to be suspicious, said Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Lt. Raymond E. Walter. Police are still investigating the incident.
