Tractor-trailer crash closed Veteran’s Bridge in Enfield, Suffield

ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – A crash involving a tractor-trailer shut down the Route 190 bridge between Enfield and Suffield on Friday.

According to the Suffield Police Department, a motor vehicle crashed between a tractor-trailer and a van on the western side of the bridge. This accident happened after midnight on Friday.

According to Thompsonville Fire Chief David Deskis, two people were injured, one with serious injuries. Thompsonville Fire and Suffield Fire crews arrived to find a tractor-trailer unit engulfed in fire.

Extensive fuel spilled from the tractor-trailer unit which had its saddle tank ripped off due to the collision. Suffield Fire crews remained for vehicle removal and fuel spill clean-up along with Connecticut Deep.

Route 159 will be open to north and southbound traffic, but the bridge will be closed on both eastbound and westbound sides as the Suffield Police Department investigates the crash.
