Littleton Community Vacation Bible School: The Tradition Continues
For many years, Littleton area churches have collaborated to provide Vacation Bible School to local children. While the exact date the collaboration began is not clear, records as far back as 1998 document this interdenominational VBS. The site for Community VBS rotates between Lakeside Lutheran Church, Littleton Baptist Church, and Littleton United Methodist Church with other churches and faith-based organizations providing volunteers and snacks. Letter to the editor: Land clearing a cause of concern
My wife and I have owned a home on Lake Gaston since 1990. As part-timers we have made the drive from our home in Virginia through Emporia hundreds of times. W have noticed a disturbing pattern of land clearing, including tracts of hardwood trees for the development of solar farms. While I’m sure some of your readers are supportive of these projects, I am not so sure. Acres of CO2 gobbling trees are being removed, wildlife disturbed leaving structures that have a finite lifespan and will need to be replaced and recycled (maybe).
