MERIDIAN -- By the time team trophies were handed out Saturday at the 5A-4A state track championships, it was clear the two-day meet had a distinct eastern Idaho feel. From the sprints to the hurdles to the pole vault and the distance races, area athletes shined under the bright afternoon sun in Meridian.

MERIDIAN — Rocky Mountain’s boys track and field dynasty was in jeopardy when Braden Ankeny received the baton. With the Grizzlies trailing Boise by two points in the team standings at Saturday’s 5A track and field state championships, Ankeny began the final leg of the 4X400 meter relay in third place. He needed to run down Post Falls’ Cobe Cameron and Boise’s Noe Kemper on the Mountain View track to keep the Grizzlies’ team title streak alive. ...
