The track and field season is underway once again, and it is literally a sprint to the finish. The season typically starts the first weekend in March and pushes its way through for 10 weeks and with the exception of Spring Break there isn’t much down time. Last Saturday they were in Price for the Farm Bureau Invitational, and while both teams finished in tenth place they were some great individual performances.

Juab earned the top finish on boys side with a score of 99, Union was in second with 85. Delta, Uintah and North Sevier made the top five. Emery landed in 10th.

Jack Christiansen earned a first place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:07.08, Camdon Larsen finished in third with a time of 2:08.65.

In the 2,2,4,8 relay Christiansen, along with Porter Hurdsman, Jaxson Johnson and Matt Olsen ran their way to a second place finish with a time of 3:52.52.

In field events, Olsen claimed a fifth place in the high jump.

The Carbon Lady Dinos ended the day with a score of 124.5, which was 30 points better than second place Uintah’s 94.5. North Sevier, Juan Diego and Delta rounded out the top five. Emery ended the day in 10th.

The girls 2,2,4,8 relay team of Addy Guymon, Carlie Hurst, Aliya Lester and Addie Hurst finished in second place with a time of 4:46.91. Hurst would go on to take fifth in the 100 hurdles.

The Spartans will be back at it this weekend in Price for the Carbon Invitational.
