Elyria was rocked with a variety of weather related incidents March 25 and 26 during severe wind storms that moved through much of Ohio over the weekend.

Also, according to a news release from Elyria Fire Chief Joseph D. Pronesti, the department responded to a fire at 10:30 p.m. March 25 in the 300 block of 11th Street.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a working fire on the second floor. A quick interior attack stopped the fire and saved most of the structure. The fire is under investigation, according to the release, and no injuries were reported.

Elsewhere in Elyria, Captain Chuck Smalley and his B shift team responded to several emergencies including downed trees and powerlines.

According to Matthew Lundy of the City of Elyria, “Damaging winds were blowing down trees and power lines in the city. The forestry department has been assisting in clearing tree damage with barricades put on around the city at sites hit by the wind.”
