Congratulations to Jack Frost who was named Ellsworth's Citizen of the Year, by the Board of Directors of the  Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce.

Jack has been a resident of Ellsworth, Maine for thirty years. He currently serves as Vice President, Director of Community Giving with Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.

But Jack is perhaps best known for his relationship with Maine Coast Hospital, as he was the Executive Director of the Maine Coast Hospital Foundation from 2006 to 2017, where he was responsible for fundraising initiatives, including: planned giving, capital campaign, grant writing, annual fund, and charity events. While serving as Director, he aided leaders of the Hospital in successfully completing two significant capital campaigns , with the construction of the F. Eugene Dixon, Jr. Emergency Center and the Mary Dow Cancer Center.

Prior to joining Hospital in 2006, he served as Program Manager with Training and Development Corporation from 1992 to 2006, for state and federal Department of Labor where he guided adult and youth job training programs in the northeast region of Maine and served as lead at the State’s CareerCenter in Ellsworth.

Jack is a graduate of the University of Maine at Machias (’89) and obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Maine (’92). Jack is past president of the Rotary Club of Ellsworth and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Club in 2009.

In the past two decades, he has served on numerous boards and committees, including: Child and Family Opportunities (now Downeast Community Partners), Ellsworth Business Development Corporation; Ellsworth Knowlton Park Campaign Committee; Ellsworth Sestercentennial Committee; Frenchman Bay Conservancy; Good Shepherd Food Bank Campaign Advisory Committee; Hancock County Technical Center student mentor, Healthy Acadia; Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, University of Maine at Machias Board of Visitors; University of Maine Black Bear Athletics Committee; and The Bay School.

Current community service includes:

  • Hattie A. & Fred C. Lynam Trust, community grants and scholarship committee
  • Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce, board

  • Maine Community Foundation, statewide community building grant committee
  • Rotary Club of Ellsworth, Paul Harris Fellow committee and Gifting Experience program co-chair
  • Woodlawn Museum, development committee

Jack resides in Ellsworth with his spouse, Brenda. They were married in 1992 and moved to Ellsworth in 1993. Brenda is the Guidance Counselor at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School, where she has worked for nearly 30 years.

Jack will receive the  2023 Citizen of the Year Award  at the Chamber’s Annual Awards night. June 1, 2023, in the pop-up event center in Downtown Ellsworth and the awards given out at the Grand Theater.
