    This is the Herald-Times Athlete of the Week poll for April 22-27.

    Congratulations to last week's winner, softball player Jessica Hovious of Eastern Greene, who ran away with 45.6% of the vote to top North golfer Hogan Conder (17.4%) and Eastern track standout Jade Dawes (12.9%).

    Ellie Barada, South girls track

    Sophomore won Conference Indiana titles in the 200 (26.39) and 400 (57.46) in season best times. The 400 title was a repeat from last year. She also led off the winning 1,600 relay (4:08.20).

    Taylor Bernard, Owen Valley softball

    Senior was 5-for-6 with a homer (her third of the season), double and eight RBI in a 22-11 WIC win over Greencastle. She scored twice in an 11-1, five-inning conference win over Brown County. She's batting .367 on the year.

    D'Andre Black, South boys track

    Won a Conference Indiana title in the 110 hurdles in 14.84 and then came back to take the 300s in 40.54, hitting the last hurdle and falling but still having a big enough lead to still cross the line in first.

    Landon Clement, Edgewood boys track

    Junior won the 100 (11.41) and 200 (23.45) and was on the winning 400 relay (44.94) as the Mustangs topped Indian Creek, Owen Valley and Brown County.

    Macey Crider, Edgewood girls track

    Sophomore sprinter took the 100 (13.23), 200 (26.81) and anchored the 400 relay to a quick 50.79 and a win in a meet against Owen Valley, Indian Creek and Brown County.

    Carson Druckrey, Edgewood baseball

    Senior went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI in a 17-3 five-inning rout of South Putnam. Then had a strong pitching outing in an 8-3 win over West Vigo, going five shutout innings before surrendering an unearned run in the sixth. Had seven strikeouts, two walks. Had a hit and also drove in two.

    Dede Eberle, North girls track

    The Cougars sent her out to win four individual events at the Conference Indiana meet and she did just that, scoring 40 points for the team champs. She won the 100 dash (12.89), 100 hurdles (15.00), 300 hurdles (47.83) and long jump (17-5).

    Noah Hall, Owen Valley boys track

    Sophomore high jumper raised his career best to 6-6 but had to settle for second in a meet against Edgewood, Indian Creek and Brown County. He had a 6-4 leap in a meet on Monday.

    Rylin Patton, Eastern Greene baseball

    Senior tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks in a 14-1 win in five innings over Dugger Union. He has 18 Ks over 11⅓ innings and an 0.65 ERA this spring.

    Abby Purtlebaugh, South softball

    Freshman had a breakout week of epic proportions, starting with a 3-for-3, three RBI day in a 3-0 win over rival Bloomington North. Then she hit the first two homers of her career in each half of a doubleheader split with two state-ranked teams, Silver Creek (2-for-3 with three RBI) and Floyd Central (1-for-3, two RBI).

    Quinn Reynolds & Everly Clark, South girls tennis

    The Panthers' usual No. 2 doubles team opened the week with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Southport and 6-2, 6-1 against Brown County. Then on Thursday, they found themselves at No. 1 doubles in the CI match against Bloomington North and came through with a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-2 win that clinched the 3-2 team win, South's first over North since 2019.

    Piper Stephens, Edgewood softball

    Senior went 6-for-7 with seven RBI last week in two Western Indiana Conference wins over South Putnam (12-1) and West Vigo (1-0). She had two of the Mustangs four hits in the pitcher's duel with the Vikings and the lone RBI in the fourth inning.

    Gage Way, South baseball

    Sophomore had a tremendous outing at Jennings County, going all eight innings in a 2-0 win, tossing a four-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts and needing just 89 pitches to complete the task.

    Colton Watson, South boys golf

    Shot a 70 to lead the Panthers to a 289 and a win over Columbus North at Timbergate. Came back with a 79 at Rock Hollow to help South finish third with a 309 at the Hall of Fame Tournament.

    Caleb Winders, North boys track

    It's been a tough spring health-wise for the sophomore, but he won the 800 at the Conference Indiana meet in an season best 1:54.44. He also anchored the Cougars' 3,200 relay to a win and the 1,600 relay to a second-place finish with a sub-50 split.
