Tree falls on parked truck with 2 people inside in Elkview, West Virginia

UPDATE (6:34 p.m., March 25, 2023): The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office says a couple was eating lunch inside a parked truck when a tree fell and hit the vehicle’s rear in Elkview, West Virginia.

According to the KCSO, the couple was parked on Main Street outside the Elk Community Center.

The two heard a tree falling and tried to quickly avoid it by driving away, according to authorities. However, the driver accidentally ran into the hillside, and the tree fell into the truck bed, according to the KCSO.

Authorities say the tree did not crash through the car’s interior, and no one was injured.


ELKVIEW, WV (WOWK) — Kanawha County 911 dispatchers say a tree fell on top of a parked car with someone inside it.

The incident happened around 12:27 p.m. at the intersection of North Pinch Road and Main Street in Elkview near Smith’s Foodfair.

The person in the car refused medical treatment, according to dispatchers.

There are currently powerlines on the ground, dispatchers say.

Pinch Volunteer Fire Department and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene.
