Two people returned home from vacation to find their front door unlocked and the home ransacked, Gacke said.
The incident happened in the 600 block of Railroad Drive in Elk River. The burglary was reported to police on July 9.
Bullet was lodged in wall of her garage
A woman called police after finding a bullet lodged in the wall of her garage in the 19000 block of Fillmore Street in Elk River.
The bullet was recovered and determined to be a 9mm bullet, according to Gacke. The origin of the bullet is unknown, he said.
The incident was reported to police on July 5.
Man hits one vehicle, almost strikes others
Elk River Police responded to the parking lot of Walmart, 18185 Zane St., at 5 p.m. July 5 after receiving multiple complaints about the driver of a pickup with a trailer driving recklessly at a very high rate of speed.
The pickup reportedly had struck one vehicle and nearly hit approximately six others.
Officers located the pickup.
The driver, a 65-year-old St. Cloud man, was cited for driving after revocation, no insurance, and hit and run.
Shoplifting report leads to two arrests
Police responded to The Home Depot, 18011 Zane St., Elk River, shortly after 2 p.m. July 7 for a report of two people actively shoplifting from the store.
Officers located the two in the parking lot after they walked out of the store. They were a 51-year-old Big Lake man and a 44-year-old St. Cloud woman.
“It was determined the parties had not stolen any items but admitted to attempting to do so,” according to the police report.
Officers determined the male had two active warrants for his arrest and both parties were arrested for drug possession, the police report stated.
Woman arrested for DWI after car in ditch
A 36-year-old Princeton woman was arrested for controlled substance DWI after authorities responded to a report of a Dodge Charger that went into a ditch near Highway 10 and 170th Avenue in Elk River.
The call came in at 10:32 a.m. July 7.
Man appears to be sleeping at pumps
A man came to the attention of police after he appeared to be sleeping in a vehicle parked at the gas pumps at the Holiday station at 18823 Freeport St.
Police were called to the station at 12:07 p.m. July 5 after the man had reportedly been there for the last 30 minutes. An officer made contact with the man and learned that he had two warrants for his arrest.
The 34-year-old Princeton man was taken into custody on a Wright County warrant and brought to the Sherburne County Jail in Elk River.
Boat motor stolen
A boat motor was reported stolen from a boat while it was parked at a dock in the 18000 block of Queen Circle in Elk River, on Lake Orono.
The theft happened between 4 p.m. July 3 and 11 a.m. July 4.
Vehicle on fire
Police responded to the Holiday station, 18823 Freeport St., Elk River, for a vehicle fire at 10:20 p.m. July 3.
Officers used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
The vehicle was still smoking when the Elk River Fire Department arrived and firefighters fully extinguished the fire.
2 deer, 1 vehicle with ‘severe’ damage
A vehicle sustained “severe immobilizing damage” after hitting two deer in Elk River.
The motorist was traveling east in the 13100 block of Ranch Road going approximately 45 mph when two deer jumped out in front of the vehicle. The vehicle made contact with both deer and then slid into the ditch. The driver, a 45-year-old Zimmerman man, was not injured.
The incident was reported to police at 4:47 a.m. July 1.
