PROVO — Two police officers suffered minor injuries while trying to arrest a man who refused to pull over early Friday, hit a parked car and then ran from officers. Tareq Basem Hamdan, 24, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, fleeing, failing to stop at the command of police, meth possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.

Armstrong stressed the need to check smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries twice a year. The Carters Valley Volunteer Fire Department is down its most vital fire truck and some equipment after a Thanksgiving Day wreck, wjhl.com reported. The six-man, 1,500-gallon pumper was involved in a wreck on Surgoinsville Creek Road on Thanksgiving Day. Crews, returning from a structure fire in Goshen Valley, encountered a car crossing the yellow line into the pumper’s lane. To avoid a collision the pumper left the roadway and crashed into a hillside, the report said.

SPRINGVILLE — Springville police and the Utah State Fire Marshal are investigating a trailer fire in October that claimed the life of a 53-year-old woman. Maryanne Forsythe Finch was found dead inside a burning trailer in the backyard of a home at 68 E. 800 South, on Oct. 31.
